How to create an open match from Playtomic Manager

Open matches are designed to be created by players directly from the Playtomic app. We recommend encouraging this as the standard flow — players can register themselves, share the match link, and manage their own participation.

That said, if needed, club admins can also create open matches directly from Playtomic Manager.

Steps to create an open match

1. Go to the Matches menu and click the blue “Create open match” button on the right.
2. A new screen opens. Select the date and time slot for the match.
3. Choose the court type (indoor or outdoor) and sport (padel or tennis) if both are enabled in your open matches configuration.
4. The price per player is calculated automatically based on your pricing configuration for the selected time slot and court type. To customise it, click Edit.
5. Add participants to each team if needed. Keep in mind:
   • Players must have a Playtomic account and a registered level to participate in open matches.
   • Payment must be completed online via the app or Club Wallet — payment at the club is not supported for open matches.
6. Choose the match type:
   • 🏆 Competitive — match results affect players' levels. The level range is set automatically based on the first registered player's level.
   • 🎾 Friendly — match results do not affect players' levels. By default, no level restriction is applied (range 0–7). You can adjust the level range during creation, but not after the match has been created.
7. Set the gender restriction:
   • Open (default) — no restrictions, all players can join.
   • Female — only women can join.
   • Male — only men can join.
   • Mixed — each team consists of one man and one woman.
8. When ready, choose how to finalise the match:
   • Create match (recommended) — the match is created without a court assigned. The system will automatically book a court based on the time remaining before the match starts, the number of participants, and court availability. Learn more about when open matches occupy calendar slots.
   • Create match with court — the match is created and a court is assigned immediately, based on your configuration and availability.

Assigning a court after creation

If you created the match without a court and want to assign one later, go back to the Matches menu, find the open match, and click Add court on the right. The system will automatically assign a court based on the time slot, configuration, and availability.
