If a player doesn't meet the level required for an open match, they can still join by requesting a place directly from the app.
How can a player request a place in an open match
If a player doesn't meet the required level, they can still join the match by following these simple steps:
- Open the Playtomic app and go to Matches.
- Try booking the spot in the match.
- If blocked due to level restrictions, just tap “Request your place”.
- Players who already joined the match will get a notification about the request.
- The current players can see the request and will need to approve it.
- The player needs approval from everyone in the match.
- If even one player rejects the request, the off-level player won’t be able to join.
All they need to do is hit the “Accept” button!
If everyone accepts, the player will be able to pay and confirm their spot!
🗨️ Tip: The requesting player can also use the public chat to let others know about their request and ask for approval.
Player rejected by mistake
If a player is rejected by mistake, no worries! It is still possible to accept them later. The player who made a mistake can:
- Go to the “requests for places” section.
- Find the rejected player and tap the green checkmark ✅ to accept.
For managers
As a manager, you have some flexibility when it comes to adding players to an open match:
- Competitive match: You can manually add any player with a Playtomic level, even if they're outside the match's level range.
- Friendly match: You can add any player, even those without a level.
Just keep in mind that open matches are generally designed for players with a Playtomic account and level. If you bypass this, some players already in the match may not be happy about playing with someone outside their range or without a level — and any complaints that come up will need to be handled by the club.
Use this flexibility wisely! 😊
