Custom payment plans for academy courses

You can now create courses with a custom payment frequency. Instead of charging participants monthly or upfront, you define your own periods (installments), with specific dates and amounts, so course payments match your academy calendar.

How it works

1. Choose “Custom” recurring payments when creating the course.
2. Create the payment periods (installments): set a start date, end date, and price for each period.
3. Publish and enroll participants: participants pay the current period at checkout, and upcoming periods remain pending until their dates arrive.

To enable online recurring payments, participants must pay the first course installment in the Playtomic app by card.

What you can configure

1) Payment type for the course

You can offer:

• Upfront (single payment)
• Monthly
• Custom recurring payments 

2) Periods (installments)

For each period you define:

• Date range (start + end): the installment is automatically charged on the period’s start date, using the credit card the participant has registered in the app.
• Amount to charge for that period

Common setups:

• Quarterly (e.g., Sep–Dec / Jan–Mar / Apr–Jun)
• Term-based (aligned with academic terms)
• Irregular periods (you decide the ranges)

3) Different prices (optional)

You can set:

• Different amounts per period (e.g., enrollment fee + later periods)

Quick example

Course (Sep–Jun) with 3 installments:

• Sep–Dec: 140€
• Jan–Mar: 120€
• Apr–Jun: 120€

Participant:

• Pays Sep–Dec at enrollment
• Pays the next periods when due

What participants see and do in the app

• At enrollment, participants see the payment plan by periods.
• They pay the current period during checkout.
• Future periods show as pending and will be automatically charged when they become due (depending on your payment setup).

Important rules

• Period dates can’t be changed after the course is created.
• You can edit the payment period prices only if no one is enrolled yet.
• If someone joins mid-course, they pay the period that covers their start date.

What you can customize

• Prices by category (if you use category pricing).
• Per participant dates: when enrolling someone, you can set a custom start and end date for their participation. The installment schedule will automatically adjust to the new dates.
• Per participant prices: when enrolling someone, you can customize the price they will pay for a single installment, all installments, or only some installments.
