When players create an open match in Playtomic, they have the option to choose between two distinct types of games:
🏆 Competitive Match
In a competitive match, only players whose skill level fits within the specified range can participate. However, players outside this range can request to join, and if all current players agree, they may be allowed to play.
- The results always affect a player's ranking.
- This type of match is perfect for those who want to challenge themselves and improve their Playtomic level.
🎾 Casual Match
In contrast, casual matches are open to all players, regardless of their skill level. This allows for more relaxed gameplay without the pressure of skill-based restrictions.
- Player levels remain unchanged even if the match results are entered.
- Casual matches are ideal for players who want to enjoy the match without worrying about rankings or competition.
Once a match is booked, it’s important to remember that it cannot be switched from casual to competitive.
Configuring Match Type from Playtomic Manager
Clubs can also set the match type when creating an open match from Playtomic Manager. During the match creation flow, clubs can choose between two options:
🏆 Competitive
- The level range is set automatically based on the first registered player's level.
- Match results affect the levels of all players.
🎾 Friendly (Casual)
- By default, no level restriction is applied — the level range is set from 0 to 7, welcoming players of all levels.
- The level range can be manually adjusted during the match creation flow. Once the match has been created, the range can no longer be edited.
- Match results do not affect players' levels.
