Benefits update: Sell memberships onsite & online with new payment options

Note: This article refers to Benefits sold as memberships. This is a new release that’s being rolled out gradually to clubs, so if you don’t see these options in your Benefits configuration in Playtomic Manager yet, it simply means the rollout hasn’t reached your club—please wait for it to become available.

What’s new

We’ve improved Benefits sold as memberships so you can:

  • sell them onsite and/or online (depending on how your club operates)
  • offer more payment methods, including wallets, Google Pay/Apple Pay and local payment methods (depending on your country and configuration)
  • choose new subscription periods: one-off, weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly
  • set grace days: give members extra time to fix failed or missed payments before the membership automatically deactivates
  • decide whether a Benefit is visible or hidden in the app
  • copy a public Benefit link to share with players
  • show players clearer perks in the app, so they understand what they’re getting

1) Sell Benefits onsite and online

You can now manage Benefit payments in the way that matches how your club operates:

  • Onsite: register Benefit payments taken at the front desk (so you don’t have to track them in spreadsheets).
  • Online: let players purchase and renew Benefits in the app, using Playtomic’s payment flow.

This means you can run Benefits as:

  • fully onsite,
  • fully online,
  • or a mix (depending on your configuration).

2) Set up payment methods (including local options)

Benefits are no longer limited to a single payment setup.

Choose which payment methods your club wants to offer, including local payment methods (availability depends on your market and rollout).

Examples of local payment methods (depending on country and club configuration):

  • Swish (Sweden)
  • Paytrail (Finland)
  • iDEAL (Belgium and the Netherlands)
  • Bancontact (Belgium and the Netherlands)
  • PayPal (Germany)

3) New subscription periods (more flexibility)

When setting up a paid Benefit, you can choose the subscription period that fits your business model:

  • One-off
  • Weekly
  • Monthly
  • Quarterly
  • Yearly

Grace days (extra time to fix failed payments)

You can now set grace days for Benefits sold as memberships.

If a renewal payment is missed or fails, the membership won’t deactivate immediately: the player has the configured number of days to complete the payment and keep access without interruptions.

During the grace period:

  • the player can pay in the app,
  • or the club can mark the payment as completed onsite.

Once the grace days run out and the payment is still pending, the membership will automatically deactivate.

4) Clearer perks in the app

Players will see better visibility of the perks included in a Benefit inside the app, helping them understand:

  • what’s included,
  • and the value they’re getting from the plan.

Players can also manage their membership directly from the app:

  • view their payment history,
  • manage their next payments,
  • and unsubscribe at any time.

5) Visibility options in the app (Visible vs Hidden)

When configuring a Benefit, you can choose how it appears in the app:

  • Visible: players can see and join this Benefit in the app.
  • Hidden: only players added by the club in Playtomic Manager will see it in the app. Other players can’t see or join it.

6) Copy a public Benefit link and share it with players

Managers can now copy a public link to a Benefit and share it with players (e.g., via WhatsApp, email, or social media). The link opens the Benefit detail view in the app.

Where to find the link:

  • From the Benefits list: Rewards & Offers > Benefits → find the Benefit → click the three-dot menuCopy public link.
  • During Benefit creation: the link is also available in the last step of the creation flow.

Important notes:

  • The link works even for Hidden Benefits.
  • Copy public link is only for new Benefits created after this update (no changes to older memberships or “assigned by club” Benefits without a payment frequency).

FAQ

  • Do I have to sell every Benefit online?
No. You can keep Benefits onsite-only if that’s how you operate.

  • How do payments work once I set a price?
Once a Benefit has a pricing configuration in Playtomic Manager, club managers can add members, select the price, and mark the payment as done with the desired payment method (and use a CIT transaction if enabled for the club — US only).

  • What happens when a Benefit is visible in the app?
Players can find it in the Benefits/Membership section on the club page in the app and complete the subscription there, using the payment methods available to them (including merchant wallets and online payment methods).

  • Can players cancel in the app?
Yes. If a player cancels, the subscription will end at the end of the current subscription period (no refunds; they keep the Benefit until the period ends).

  • What about renewals?
If the player paid in-app with a credit card, Playtomic will attempt to charge that card automatically at renewal. If the charge fails, the player can still pay during the grace period in the app or ask the club to mark it as paid onsite. For other online payment methods (like Apple Pay/Google Pay or local payment methods), Playtomic won’t trigger automatic charges. Renewals will need to be paid manually, either by the player in the app or marked as paid by the club.

  • Can I manage members manually?
Yes. With this update, clubs can add or remove members and manage Benefits directly in Playtomic Manager.
