This article explains the player-side experience: how players top up, pay with their wallet, and what limitations apply.
How players top up their wallet
Players can top up their wallet in different ways, depending on your settings.
Online recharge enabled
Players can top up directly from the Playtomic app:
First time buying wallet credit
- From your club’s profile in the tab
- Go to Home and scroll to Offers
- Select the offer they want to buy
- Complete the payment — the wallet balance will be available as a payment method
Topping up an existing wallet
- Go to Your payments
- Tap Payment methods
- Select the wallet
- Tap Top up balance (upper right corner)
Online recharge disabled
In this case, the player pays at the venue and the club adds the balance manually in Playtomic Manager. See step-by-step instructions here: Club Wallets: managing player balances.
How players pay with a wallet
Once a player has a Club Wallet balance, it appears as a payment option at checkout. The player must actively select Club Wallet — otherwise the payment defaults to their card.
A few important rules:
- The wallet must cover the full payment amount. If the booking costs more than the wallet balance, the player cannot use the wallet for that transaction — they must pay entirely by card.
- Wallets can only be used at the club where the balance is held.
- Wallets cannot be used for pending payments (debts).
Why a wallet might not appear at checkout
If a player reports that their wallet isn't showing as a payment option, here are the most likely reasons:
- The wallet has restrictions (specific courts, sports, activities, or time slots) that don't match the booking
- The wallet balance is lower than the total amount due — the wallet cannot be used for partial payment
- The credit was added to a different player profile or email address
- The player has outstanding debt in the app, which may block wallet usage
What wallets can and can't be used for
- Can pay with wallet: Reservations, products, services, and classes (as long as the wallet has no restrictions blocking that product)
- Can’t pay with wallet: Wallet top-ups (recharges). Players must buy them in the Playtomic app using a card.
Wallet expiry
- Standard wallets do not expire.
- Recurring wallets reset monthly — unused balance disappears at the end of each cycle and does not accumulate to the next month.
